THRESHOLD-SPACES
I investigate the invisible but strong relationship between the human being and specific spaces which I call “Threshold-Spaces”. These spaces take you to a different place, both physically and mentally, making you drift towards different inner realities.

TO THOSE WHO GO LOOKING FOR TALES IN POPLAR WOODS
"It's a boundary which is reflected in the reign of imagination.…You arrive here, and you hover at once in a indefinable atmosphere, as if in mid-air. I couldn't describe it to you. You have to experience it."

The land that Alberto Bevilacqua writes about is one of the threshold-spaces of my research. It is the floodplain of the Po, the main river of Italy. It is a place squeezed between the vast water stream and its high embanked wall made of earth, built centuries ago to contain the flooding.
The space is skimmed by the river and, often, flooded; it is a space where people dwell and from where they are occasionally forced to leave when the water invades their houses.
This is a space of presences and absences, where stories and the tales are woven into real life, and the fairy-tales look more real then reality.
